Question by r2-d2: How can I set up a wireless network using at&t yahoo! backup CD?
We just bought a new laptop, a Toshiba Satellite, Windows Vista.

We use 2wire from at&t as our home network, however we cannot remember the network key to connect to it. So we’re using the backup CD.

We’ve already uploaded all the files from the CD onto c/program files/ and restarted the computer.

But we’re at lost as to where to go from there. Please help.
Unfortunately we don’t have access to the the administer account. None of the computers are connected to our network

Answer by Lindsay G
That wont help you, you need to network key in order to connect. If you connect to the admin account you should be able to access it or change it. Look at the 2wire, it will have a sticker telling you how to connect to the routers settings.

I would write the key down somewhere and then place it in a safe spot, that what we do.

Question by Nami-chan: Help! iPod touch restore from backup, apps gone?
Okay, so earlier today I was attempting to jailbreak my iPod touch, but I couldn’t manage to put it into DFU mode, then my computer came up with ‘Unidenfied device’ and upon launching iTunes it said that it detected an iPod in recovery mode and I had to restore it. So I restored it, and then restored it from backup, but my apps and music were gone. I thought that syncing it with my computer would work, but that only restored the music, my apps are still not there. Please help??
Okay, luckily I got my apps back, but all my app data is gone .__. Any idea how to fix that?

Mac OS X is a powerful and stable computer operating system, developed and marketed with Apple Inc. The operating system has various versions, which include Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and 10.6 Snow Leopard. Apple periodically releases updates to make the Mac OS X operating system more advanced and powerful. The updates can directly be downloaded form Apple’s website and install to your system. However, in some cases, the updates make some of Mac features unusable and sometimes even make your system unusable. This behavior leads to critical data loss and requires Mac Data Recovery to be sorted out.

One such update is released by Apple in the form of Mac OS X 10.5.6. The update is for Leopard users. This update is recommended for you to improve the security options and performance of your Mac OS X Leopard. It also includes enhanced graphics options for APERTURE, iChat, iTunes, and Cover Flow.

Instead of having some chiming notes for you, it has been observed that this update may affect the process of Time Machine in one way or the others. After installing the updates, Time Machine does not work for creating backup of your valuable data and restoring data from the backup. So, if you remove any file from your Mac OS X hard drive or you face data loss due to any other reasons, you can not look for backup. The only way, which is left for you, is to go for Mac Recovery Software solutions.

The data backup and restore process of Time Machine utility is based upon MAC address (it is a unique identity assigned to the network interface cards or network adapters). This address is stored in root of the Time Machine drive. The update changes the method in which the permissions are read from file or a file is modified in any way.

When such situations occur, you cannot restore your lost data from backup, even if you have an updated and valid backup. At this point, you need to perform Data Recovery Mac using commercial applications to retrieve your lost data.

The Mac Disk Recovery applications are specifically designed to scan affected hard drive using advanced scanning techniques and extract all lost data from it. They have interactive user interface to offer quick and simple recovery.

Stellar Phoenix Macintosh Data Recovery is the most comprehensive utility to ensure absolute recovery in all data loss scenarios. It is suitable for recovering data from HFS, HFS+, HFSX, HFS Wrapper, and FAT file system volumes. The software is designed for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.5 Leopard, 10.4 Tiger, and 10.3.9 Panther.

by Joi

Article by jorgebell12

Almost all of us know what backup software does, but we still don’t understand why it’s important to run these programs on our home computers. After all, isn’t backup software for big corporations who have millions to lose if their computer information goes missing? Believe it or not, programs that back up hard drive information are just as important for home computer users as they are for businesses. Here are three reasons why.

1. We Live on Our PCs

Now, more than ever, people find themselves almost living on their computers. We store our tax returns there. Our valuable family photos are saved to them. Copies of birth certificates, credit card statements and even bank account statements can be found on many of our hard drives. As our lives become more integrated with our PCs, we have more to lose if the information stored on them becomes lost or corrupted.

2. Things Happen

It’s ironic how many of us have the “it would never happen to me” syndrome. Let’s face it, things happen. You can be the biggest control freak in the world and you may be running every security program known to man, but you can’t completely protect the information on your hard drive without backup software. Why? Ask mother nature.

Floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and fires have all destroyed more than their fair share of computer hard drives. Unless you have a secret way of controlling nature and disasters then all of the information on your computer is at risk without the use of a good backup software product.

3. It’s Insurance

You insure your car, you insure your home, backup and recovery software is just a way of insuring the information stored on your hard drive. When you consider all of the important information your computer holds it only makes sense that you would invest in a product to insure that information. That’s exactly what a backup program will do.

There are literally dozens of reasons to buy a backup product for your computer. These are just three of the many. If you aren’t yet running a backup and recovery program on your PC, consider the above information. You just might be ready to change your mind.

This will backup your entire database to one file.

68017721 f62106701d m Tips to manage files and folders of your computer...!
by Topato

Now-a-days almost everybody in their official life use computers. They accumulate their daily data as files and collect those files in various folders in their system hard drives. Over a period of time, definitely most of the people face difficulties in managing their files and folders. They do regular searches for their own files and folders and face lot of difficulties in finding them in their own system. Here are some of the tips to manage files and folders.

Categorize folders into core projects or work categories

Create folders based on the project or work categories and save files in those folders immediately whenever a new file is created or an existing file is updated. Don’t use desktop folder to save files temporarily since people will usually forget to move the desktop files to relevant folders and this will create more confusions.

Prefix or Suffix date or work project’s title to file names

Usually while saving a file, don’t forget to prefix or suffix date or relevant work project. This will help you to search files in future once many such kind of files get accumulated in the system hard drive over a period of time. For example, if you are saving the detail about employees in your department, then it is better to give a file title “Employee detail_11 01 2010”. This title will help you to search such kind of files in future easily as the file name conveys the file content and date.

Use one hard disk drive as working drive and another drive as back up drive

Always use any one hard drive as current working drive and use another hard disk drive as a back up drive wherein you can backup important data. Backups can be managed by giving date of backup as folder name which will give you hint in future on which date you have taken a backup of files.

Delete unwanted files and folders

Definitely, over a period of time, you will feel some files and folders are not required and hence can be deleted from your hard disk. Delete those files immediately. Don’t be in a dilemma whether to delete it or not. But, if you have separate backup facilities like CDs or DVDs, then try to make a backup on those external devices and then delete such files and folders immediately.

Follow the above hints while working with your official computer and be happy all time on managing your files and folders.

This video will show you how to update CyanogenMod 7 on your (CM7 supported) device. Links: CyanogenMod 7: www.cyanogenmod.com Dropbox: www.dropbox.com If you learn better by reading instructions, I’ve posted a tutorial on Android Central’s forums. http Notes: 1) You don’t need to download the Google Apps pack or be concerned about losing any of your apps. They will not be affected. 2) We’ll be using Dropbox to transfer the updated ROM from our computer to the device. (You don’t necessarily have to use Dropbox. You can use a USB cable to transfer the ROM to the SD card or you could just download the ROM directly from the browser. This is just how I do it.) 3) Do not select Wipe Data and Cache, as this basically acts as a factory reset. You will lose all your data if you select this. You’ll also have to reinstall the Google Apps pack. 4) If you’re unhappy with the new version of CyanogenMod 7, you can always roll back to whatever you were running before. That’s why I had you backup the device before the update. To restore your device to the way it was before we did anything, press and hold the power button -) Reboot -) Recovery. Your device will now boot into CWR. Once it boots, scroll down to Backup and Restore -) Restore and then select the backup on the bottom of the list. Once it’s done, select reboot system now. Now your device will reboot with the older version of CM7. It’ll be like nothing ever happened.

Answer by mattlax8
If you feel comfortable with opening your computer, go ahead and check to make sure that your sound card (the one that you connected the speakers to) is actually there, and connected to the motherboard (the biggest chip thing). The computer nerds may have bumped it or forgot to reconnect it.

Then try to update your driver:

http://www.cmedia.com.tw/?q=en/driver

pick the one that has your card’s model number, download it, install it, then restart your computer and see if it works.

If it doesn’t, send your computer back to the nerds and yell at them for messing it up and demand a free repair.

Some external hard drives come with software to back up your computer, but if not then you’re going to have to download some software, or just copy everything over manually. Good luck.
