If you are the “system operator” you should know the programs being used by the company. Even if you have no business looking at such files, and are not a system operator, you should be able to figure it out if you work in the company – gimme a break!

Question by Jason: Computer Preventative Maintenance Plan?
I’m coming up with a maintenance plan for my new business and I was wondering if anyone could think of anything that I’m missing in this list:

1.Clean Out Temp Folders and Other Cached Folders
2.Clean Registry
3.Examine and Clean Out Start-up Programs
4.Run Various Hard Drive Utilities
5.Run Hardware Diagnostics
6.Check Anti-Virus Program and Run a Scan
7.Scan for Spyware
8.Windows Updates
9.Program Updates
10.Check System Logs and Apply Any Fixes to Errors
11.Check Backup Logs and Run Tests
12.Apply All Server Updates
13.Check Server Event Logs and Apply Fixes Accordingly
I’m a Network Administrator/Consultant, so I do have a slight clue to what I’m doing in the Registry. This is for my clients; I want to set up a plan to come in once a month and do this list so there’s less likely of issues/disasters.

850640709 77ff658f92 m HDD not working! Help!?
by hermzz

Question by russianheman: HDD not operating! Assist!?
I cannot preserve my system operating. I hold having HDD troubles.

ASRock A780LM
AMD Athlon X2 6400+
450W PSU
IDE DVD Burner
NVidia GeForce 8600 GT
WD 250 Gb SATA (main)
Samsung 1 Tb SATA (secondary)
Vista Residence Fundamental 64

I relatively not long ago replaced the motherboard and hard drives in this Pc. I kept obtaining HDD concerns, so replaced the components. The program worked fine for about a month with the new motherboard and HDDs. Then the secondary drive began acting up. Out of the blue, the drive would crash or run very gradually with out any error message and windows would no longer detect it till I rebooted. I use the drive to backup data and access it as a media server. Following reboot, the drive would operate fine for a while (anyplace from a handful of minutes to a few hours). Then BIOS started out having difficulty detecting the drive on occasion, and the drive began spinning up and then click every single 1-five minutes. I could get BIOS to detect the drive yet again only at times when rebooting or by changing the SATA port. Windows loads and runs extreeeeeeeeeeeemely slow with the drive plugged in–if it loads at all. I replaced the drive. The new 1 worked wonderful as well for half a day, then started to mimic all the symptoms of the earlier drive. I had a feeling that Vista may well have caused the dilemma somehow, so I transformed back to XP. That did not support, but I’m uncertain if the drive injury wasn’t currently done prior to installing the new OS.

items of note:
1. The drive usually operates fantastic with my SATA-to-USB adapter–I can quickly read and transfer information
two. My major drive never ever ever gave me difficulties of any variety
three. Different cables and SATA ports created no difference other than noted above

Answer by Rick P
I was gonna say the drive was poor right up until I saw that your SATA-USB worked ok. I would try out cleansing the connections on each mother board and HD. Also, did you replace the ribbon? do you have a great connection to the power supply plug onto the HD?
Other than that it may possibly be a thing I am not familiar with.

On yet another note. If you purchased one of those ‘empty’ boxes to run SATA to USB like I did I would propose you contemplate ‘notching’ the box and placing a fan on it. I utilized to rebuild PCs and bought one particular and ultimately burnt up virtually each and every SATA drive I had laying around right here. Now that I got a newer, more rapidly, greater Pc I genuinely don’t want it anymore.

Query by Effie: I’m having concerns backing up my DS games
Very first of all, to ward off any ‘zomg illegal’ comments: http://www.nintendo.com/corp/legal.jsp#download_rom Official website specifies that the authentic owner is permitted to make a backup copy in case the cartridge is stolen or corrupted.

I have a laptop running Windows XP, wirelessly connected by way of a router connected to an older personal computer in my basement. My DS is utilizing an R4DS and a SanDisk microSD card. I’ve tried once more and once more, utilizing both my laptop and the other personal computer to get my DS to connect to the FTP server, but it keeps coming up with an error and telling me to check the .ini file, and the displayed info on the DS screen is not the same as what I input on the microSD card.

I’ve looked it up, and other men and women have had the exact same problem, but they by no means say how they fixed it… x_x

So, do we have any personal computer savvy folks around who can support me out?

Thanks~ Zee
