Online computer backup is a fairly new service being offered by several Internet providers. For those of you who are not familiar with this type of service, basically, a host on the Internet will provide you with space to store a copy of your important files right on the Internet at their facility.

  • Do they perform backups on your behave? If this a secondary copy of your data, you can breath easy here, but if it’s our only copy, you need to know this!

The second part of the bad news has to do with your connection speed and online computer backup requirements. In other words, don’t expect to store 30 gigabytes of information to an online service when you only have dial-up access to the Internet. It just doesn’t work.
